New Face of Pecinan Jakarta

It was quite a sunny Sunday. I decided to have a nostalgic sightseeing to ' China town' Jakarta. It is Glodok area. This China Town has a lot of story some sad and terrifying story, others just nostalgic story. This is a place if you would like to have a Chinese and Peranakan culinary experience. There are lot of shops that sell traditional chinese medicine, sweets that you can buy by weight, and old coffeeshop.

I rode busway from my apartment in Greenbay pluit and depart at Glodok station. It is quite easy, and it is not that far from my apartment ( only around 5,6 km).  I planned to visit one of the newest mall (it is actually renovated from Gloria Building). It has a oriental style building, which is a very unique structure in Jakarta. Located just across the famous Chandra Buiding, Pancoran China Town point surrounded by bustling and busy shop houses and street vendors, just like old days

The architecture reminds me with China town in Singapore. Even the interior look like Chinese architecture. There are not too many vendors yet, especially in 2 and 3 floors. The first floor has interesting restaurant and food vendor. But it has also modern cafe such as starbucks. It is kind of unique starbucks, look like the one in forbidden city in China.

It has also outdoor eating area, with shophouses that sell variety of foods.

After that I walking around Pancoran street and found this interesting alley.

Inside this alley is Petak Enam, the newest semi outdoor food court. Surrounded by shophouses, this really remind me with Singapore Chinatown Food street

I went to the second floor, and found this interesting art gallery/cafe with specialty in tea. They also sell coffee. The name of the place is Pieces of Peace. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is really interesting with lot of art, variety of aromatherapy, teas, tea set and even clothes that you can also purchase

I order Yuzu tea. It only cost IDR 35,000. And they use real Yuzu, not using artificial flavor. They even give you these small sugar cookies to accompany the tea. 

I ended my journey after drinking this beautiful tea at this beautiful tea shop. I recommend to visit this place to have good food and also to enjoy the good ambience. It is romantic as well, especially when the sun down and you and your partner take sips of good tea, and perhaps accompany by classical Chinese music..
